Ed Sheeran has revealed that he didn’t approve his vocals getting used on an upcoming charity single, and admitted that he would have “respectfully declined” had permission been sought.
It was just lately introduced that Bob Geldof, Midge Ure, and Trevor Horn are releasing a model new model of “Do They Know It’s Christmas?” to mark 40 years of Band Help, the charity supergroup that was first created in 1984.
However not everyone is blissful to be part of this charity initiative once more, with Ed taking to his Instagram story on Sunday to clarify why he wouldn’t have agreed to the concept if he’d been requested — as a result of method it perpetuates detrimental stereotypes of Africa.
Ed shared a screenshot of British rapper Fuse ODG’s publish, which learn: “Ten years in the past, I refused to take part in Band Help as a result of I acknowledged the hurt initiatives prefer it inflict on Africa.”
Writing alongside the screenshot, Ed instructed his 48 million followers: “My approval wasn’t sought on this new Band Help 40 launch and had I had the selection I’d have respectfully declined using my vocals.
